Some
Macintosh computers that use the Intel CPU may have this problem
if they do not have the latest version of Shockwave installed. Please
visit the Adobe download website and install the latest version
of Shockwave for Macintosh computers running the Intel CPU. Visit
www.Adobe.com/downloads/
How to see if your Macintosh computer has the Intel CPU.
1. Click the Apple in the upper left corner.
2. From the drop down menu select 'About this Mac'. This will open a new window with information on the Mac.
3. Read the line that starts with "Processor." You will see the name Intel or PowerPC. If you see the name Intel then your Mac has the Intel CPU - Shockwave files will not run properly on your Mac in native mode. Please see below to run your browser in Rosetta emulation mode.
How to run in Rosetta emulation mode.
Applications like both Safari and Firefox default to running in native mode on the new Intel-based Macs and therefore you must follow a few simple steps to instead have then run in Rosetta emulation mode:
1. Quit out of the browser.
2. Double click the Macintosh HD icon to open Finder.
3. In the panel to the left side, click the Applications icon to view the applications bundles (folder) in Finder.
4. Scroll down the list of application to locate your browser (Safari or Firefox) application bundle (folder). The bundle usually ends with the extension ".app".
5. Hold down the control key and click the application bundle for your browser.
6. A context menu will display. Select Get Info.
7. An Info dialog will display. Click the checkbox to "Open using Rosetta".
8. Close the Info dialog box.
